Days To Go

We cannot wait to celebrate with our friends and family!

Duke to Now

Duke brought us together, and New York City is where we built a life. Five years in, this past February, Ian got down on one knee in Central Park—and Liz said yes.

Now, we're bringing everyone west to California, where we're both from, to celebrate the next chapter surrounded by the people who have shared in our story from the very beginning.

Getting There

Travel

Closest Airport

Santa Barbara · SBA

About 10 miles from venue

Or Fly Into

Los Angeles · LAX

About 95 miles from venue

Santa Barbara is fairly spread out, and rideshares can be limited outside of downtown. If you're flying into LAX, we recommend renting a car for the drive up and for getting around during the weekend. While we'll provide transportation on the day of the wedding, having a car will make it easy to explore Santa Barbara and the surrounding area at your own pace throughout the weekend.
While You're in Town

Things to Do

Beaches & Coast

East Beach & Butterfly Beach

East Beach is just below Bellosguardo. For a quieter stretch of sand with a classic Montecito view, head to Butterfly Beach near the Biltmore.

Get Moving

Bike the Cabrillo Bike Path

Rent bikes and ride the path along Cabrillo Boulevard โ€” flat, scenic, and an easy way to take in the coastline at your own pace.

Restaurants

A Few Favorites

Loquita, The Lark, Third Window Brewing, Azul, Boathouse at Hendry's Beach, and Bettina are all worth a reservation.

Coffee & Casual Bites

Dart Coffee & Jeannine's

Dart Coffee Co. and Jeannine's Bakery & Restaurant are both excellent for a coffee or pastry to start the day.

Around Town

State Street & Stearns Wharf

Walk around and shop along State Street, then continue out onto Stearns Wharf for a stroll over the water.

Wine Country

Santa Ynez & Los Olivos

About 45 minutes from town, with tasting rooms, olive oil mills, and small-town charm โ€” an easy afternoon trip.

Worth the Trip

Old Mission Santa Barbara

A beautiful 18th-century mission with gardens and a rose garden across the street โ€” lovely for a quiet morning walk.

Saturday Morning

State Street Farmers Market

Fresh produce, flowers, and local vendors along lower State Street every Saturday morning โ€” a lovely way to start the day.

On the Water

Kayak or Paddleboard the Harbor

Rent a kayak or paddleboard at the Santa Barbara Harbor for calm-water views of the coastline and, if you're lucky, sea lions.

With Gratitude

Registry

We do not have a registry. So many of you are traveling to Santa Barbara to celebrate with us, and having you there for the weekend is truly more than we could ask for. Your presence, love, and support mean the world to us.

If you'd still like to mark the occasion with a gift, a contribution toward our honeymoon would mean the most to us — though any gift is welcome too. But please know that your being there is more than enough.

With love,
Liz & Ian

Good to Know

Frequently Asked

Am I invited to all three events?+

Yes โ€” you're invited to all three events, but there's absolutely no pressure to attend them all. We know Friday's Welcome Party may mean taking a day off work, so come for whichever days work best for you. We'll be thrilled to celebrate with you either way.

Are we required to attend Friday?+

No, if you are unable or wish to only join us on Saturday and Sunday, that is not a problem, just be sure to RSVP accordingly.

Does it matter where I stay?+

Your hotel or stay selection is entirely up to you! The Welcome Party will be at El Encanto, so it is very convenient to stay onsite.

What should we wear?+

The Wedding & Reception — Black Tie
Gentlemen in black tuxedos (dark suits acceptable); ladies in formal gowns.

The Rehearsal Dinner — California Elegant
Formal attire for gentlemen, jackets optional; ladies in cocktail dresses.

Friday's Welcome Party — California Cocktail
Formal attire for gentlemen, jackets optional; ladies in sundresses.

What's the weather like in Santa Barbara over Labor Day?+

Typically sunny and warm โ€” highs around 75–80°F during the day, dropping into the low 60s once the sun sets. Coastal breeze in the evening, so we'd suggest a light layer or wrap for after dark, especially for Sunday's dinner and dancing.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?+

The ceremony, dinner, and dancing will all take place outdoors, so dress accordingly. Friday's welcome party and Saturday's rehearsal dinner will be outdoors as well. September days in Santa Barbara are typically warm and sunny, with cooler temperatures as the evening unfolds โ€” we recommend bringing a light layer to keep you comfortable throughout the night.

Should I bring a gift?+

Some of you have asked about gifts. Please know that what means the most to us is having your love and support as we celebrate together, so please don't feel any obligation to give a gift. We are not registered anywhere, but if you'd still like to, a contribution toward our honeymoon would mean the most to us — though any gift is welcome too.

Thank you again for being part of this special time with us.

How do I RSVP?+

Our RSVP form is coming soon — we'll share the link once it's ready. In the meantime, if you already know you won't be able to attend, feel free to let Liz &/or Ian know directly.
